The case for messing with your puffy jacket
Designed to insulate, protect, and perform, the puffy jacket is typically restrained: neutral colours, streamlined construction, minimal decoration.
Altered Utility: The Puffy Proj™ takes that highly engineered object and introduces a different set of values: imperfection, intuition, randomness, excess, and play. Through hand painting, airbrushing, patchwork, appliqué, and other analogue textile processes, each garment becomes a record of human intervention. Marks are made by hand. Surfaces accumulate. Decisions remain visible. No two outcomes are intended to be exactly the same.
The work explores the tension between the engineered and the handmade, the optimized and the unpredictable. A garment designed around efficiency becomes a canvas for inefficiency; a functional layer becomes a site for expression.
This garment has been reimagined and altered from an Aritzia Super Puff. The Super Puff Jacket is a size women’s large.
